Smith Selected as NEWMAC Baseball Player of the Week

Sean Smith NEWMAC Springfield, Mass. – March 24, 2014 Springfield College’s Sean Smith (Broken Arrow, Okla.) was selected as the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Baseball Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Over the course of eight games in Winter Haven, Fla., the senior catcher posted a batting average of .538 in 26 at bats, while compiling 14 hits that consisted of two doubles and five runs batted in. Behind the plate, the Sport Management major registered 26 put-outs and 10 assists while holding a .971 fielding percentage.

Overall, the Pride finished the trip with a 5-4 record. Springfield will return back to action on Tuesday, March 25 when they will travel to MIT. The game is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
