Men's Lacrosse Downs Norwich University, 18-3; Improves to 4-0 in Pilgrim League Action

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., April 11, 2007 – Springfield College freshman attack Joe Femia (Mahopac, N.Y.) came off the bench to score a game-high six goals as the Pride rolled past Pilgrim Lacrosse League-foe Norwich University, 18-3, this afternoon at Benedum Field.

SC improves to 4-7 overall on the season and remains perfect in Pilgrim League play, now at 4-0. The Cadets fall to 1-6-1 overall on the season and 0-4 in Pilgrim action. Today’s game was originally scheduled to be played at Norwich, but was moved to SC’s Benedum Field because of poor field conditions.

Pride senior attack Drew Ginsberg (Takoma Park, Md.), sophomore midfielder Jason Farrell (Mahopac, N.Y.), and freshman midfielder Joe Macchi (Mahopac, N.Y.) each contributed with two scores in the win. Ginsberg also assisted on two other scores throughout the afternoon. Sophomore goalkeeper Tom Albano (Ridgewood, N.J.) recorded his first victory of the season, stopping four shots in 45 minutes of action.

Norwich goals came from freshman midfielder Kyle Marzeoti, senior midfielder Kyle Rogers, and sophomore midfielder Chris Pauz’e. Sophomore netminder Joe Phelan (Madison, Conn.) made 10 saves in 45 minutes of play for the Cadets.

Other members of SC to score in the contest included; seniors Adam Toutain (Sabattus, Me.) and Tom Santagato (Astoria, N.Y.); sophomores Skyler Wiemokly (Amherst, Mass.), Chris Jez (Somers, Conn.), Jake Jones (Amherst, Mass.); and freshman Kyle Gable (Somers, Conn.).

The Pride will next host Babson College in yet another Pilgrim Lacrosse League match-up at Benedum Field on Saturday afternoon, April 14th, in a 12:00 p.m. start.
