Veazie Named First Team NFHCA All-American; Veazie, Kelleher Both Rake in More Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (December 6, 2006) – Brittany Veazie of Springfield College has been named a Division III First Team All-American by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, wrapping up a tremendous post-season of honors for her as an individual.

Veazie, a junior forward from Dexter, Maine, was also recently named a Second Team womensfieldhockey.com All-American. In addition, she was named Second Team All-ECAC.

Earlier, she had been named NFHCA Division III All-Region First Team, First Team All-NEWMAC, NEWMAC All-Academic, and the 2006 NEWMAC Player of the Year.

Jane Kelleher, a sophomore forward from Chatham, Massachusetts, also continued to rake in some great post-season awards. She was most recently named a Division III NFHCA Second Team All-American. Earlier, she had been named First Team All-NEWMAC, and NFHCA All-Region First Team.

Veazie and Kelleher were the top two goal scorers in the NEWMAC this season. Kelleher was ranked first in point-scoring with 51, while Veazie was second with 43.

Overall, Springfield posted a final record of 17-6, won the NEWMAC post-season tournament, and reached the NCAA’s for the third straight year.
