Adamopoulos Named NEWBA Rookie of the Week

Ava Adamopoulos NEWBA Rookie of the Week Keene, N.H. - February 10, 2014 - Springfield College's Ava Adamopoulos (Ludlow, Mass.) has been named Rookie of the Week by the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA).

The first year has helped guide the Pride to a three-game win streak, averaging 18.5 points per game this week. Springfield has posted wins by margins of 19, 22 and 24 points over the last three games.

In a 63-41 conference win over Clark this week, the first year went off for 26 points and 12 rebounds, both career highs, in just 27 minutes. In a 69-45 win over Wellesley, Adamopoulos contributed 11 points off the bench on 5-of-7 shooting, plus six boards in 17 minutes.

Up next, the women will host Smith on Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off in the final home game of the season.
