Women's Gymnastics Sweeps ECAC Weekly Honors

Women's Gymnastics ECAC Weekly Honors Centerville, Mass. - January 16, 2014 - After opening the 2014 season with a 177.075-165.075 win over Rhode Island College, the Springfield College women's gymnastics team swept weekly honors from the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).

Lauren Pocius (Wallingford, Conn.) was named the ECAC Gymnast of the Week after a dominant performance in the season opener. The junior won the all-around competition with a score of 36.75 after placing firston bars (9.45) and floor (9.375) , secondon vault (9.325) and third on beam (8.6) to lead the Pride.

Alexis Stiefel (West Chester, Pa.) was named the ECAC Rookie of the Week after a great performance in her collegiate debut. The freshman stuck a solid beam routine to earn secondplace with the score of 9.2.

Kristin Feliu (Elkridge, Md.) rounded out the honors for the Pride, being named the ECAC Specialist of the Week. The sophomore started her season with a powerful front handspring front tuck vault to win the event with a score of 9.4.

Springfield will compete again on Tuesday, January 21, hosting Brockport for a 4:00 p.m. start.
