SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – November 18, 2006 – The Springfield College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams defeated Wheaton today in a meet in Norton, Massachusetts.
The men defeated the Lyons, 163-103, while the women won by a score of 174-125.
On the men’s side, there were two double winners among individuals. They included freshman Ryan Mackstutis (Torrington, Conn.) in the 1000 free and 200 back; and senior tri-captain Paul McCloskey (Brookfield, Conn.) in the 100 free and 500 free. Senior tri-captain Ryan Mahoney (Westford, Mass.) was also a winner in the 100 breast and helped the 200 medley relay team come in victorious.
On the women’s side, sophomore Moira Price (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) won three events, and was also part of the winning 400 free relay. The events she won included the 100 breast, 200 breast, and 50 free. There were also two double winners. They included sophomore Kristen Schadow (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) in the 1000 free and 200 fly; and sophomore Kallie Pottle (Brewer, Maine) in the 100 back and 200 back. Senior tri-captain Meaghan O’Hara (Bedford, N.H.) also won the 200 free and helped SC win the 400 free relay.
Up next, Springfield will host Middlebury in a men’s and women’s meet at the Art Linkletter Natatorium Saturday, December 9 at 1 pm.
