Sobel Earns NEWMAC Diver of the Week Honors

has had a great start to his sophomore campaign and was honored for his efforts by being named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Diver of the Week.
The Stratford, Conn. has won both the one and three meter diving events in the two meets the Pride have competed in this year.
In the season-opening 132-106 win over Holy Cross, Sobel swept the competition as he scored a 266.09 on the 1-meter and a 259.13 on the three-meter.
On Saturday in a 155.5-142.5 loss to Southern Connecticut State, Sobel had another standout day, as he won the three-meter board with a score of 267.10, and cruised to victory on the one-meter with a 294.10, nearly 70 points better than the second-place finisher.
By virtue of his score on the one-meter board against SCSU, Sobel met the qualifying score for the 2009 NCAA Championships in just his second meet of the year.

Peter Avdoulos is regarded as one of the top diving coaches in the nation, and will enter his 29th season as the diving coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2013-2014.
