Meet Head Coach Tim Losee

Head Coach Tim Losee Tim Losee ’05, G’07 enters his third season as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College. A former four-year member of Springfield’s men’s tennis team, Losee returned to his alma mater to pilot both the men’s and women’s tennis programs.

In his first season on the courts with the women's program, Losee coached Sam Carney, who became the first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Rookie of the Year from Springfield College in NEWMAC women's tennis history.

“It is no secret that Tim Losee is very passionate about Springfield College and its tennis programs,” said Dr. Schweitzer. “I think this position may be a dream-come-true for him. It is really great to have someone with so much enthusiasm and passion heading both programs.”

Losee is no stranger to campus as he graduated from Springfield in 2005 with a degree in physical education, and then stayed for the next two years to earn his master’s degree in physical education with a concentration in advanced level coaching. During those extra two years, Tim served as the assistant men’s tennis coach under Jamie Morrell.

“I’m thrilled to be named head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College,” said Losee. “I genuinely love this institution, its mission, and everything it stands for. Springfield College has provided me so much personally and professionally, and it feels great to be able to give back and begin a new era for the tennis programs.”

Losee has served in several different capacities as a tennis instructor at some outstanding clubs throughout the last several years. In that time, he was a tennis instructor at Silver Bay YMCA of the Adirondacks, Belvoir Terrace in Lenox, Mass., the Executive Heath Club in Manchester, N.H., the Windridge Tennis Camp in Roxbury, Vt., and the Longmeadow Country Club in Longmeadow, Mass.

Most recently, Losee spent three and a half months of his life outside of Kolkata, India, where he volunteered with a YMCA Exchange Program. Losee spent time teaching, as well as playing with, youth from the slums of that Indian city.”That was a very rewarding experience,” said Losee, who readily admitted he wouldn’t mind someday returning to India to continue that type of work.
