Junior captain David Chessen was named to the all-conference first team, while senior Eric Stalsburg and freshman Brett Bascom earned second-team honors. Chessen was named an all-conference selection for the third straight season, his first as a first-teamer. The Edison, N.J. native recorded one goal and three assists during the regular season while anchoring a Springfield defense that allowed just 18 goals in 18 games.
For Stalsburg, this marked his third consecutive selection to the all-conference second team. The native of Old Saybrook, Conn. scored two goals and dished out two assists on the season. Those totals brought his career numbers to 17 goals and four assists.
In his first season between the pipes, Bascom owns record of 6-4-4 as the Pride starter, while currently having the sixth best GAA in the NEWMAC, at 0.88 goals against per game. The New London, N.H. product ranked fifth in the conference in total saves, with 60, and sixth in save percentage at .811. Bascom was also named the NEWMAC Conference Tournament Most Outstanding Player last weekend as the Pride won the NEWMAC Championship and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
