Springfield, Mass. - October 10, 2009 - The Springfield College men's soccer team fell to visiting MIT, 1-0, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game on Saturday afternoon on Brock-Affleck Field at the Irv Schmid Sports Complex.

With the loss, the Pride falls to 4-7-1 overall, 1-3 in NEWMAC play, while the Engineers improve to 7-5 overall, and 2-1 in league action.

After a strong throw-in, MIT sophomore Zachary Kabelac made a perfect pass to the center of the box. Freshman Ben Lewis made no mistake as he tapped home the goal to give the visitors the 1-0 lead it would not relinquish.

Springfield ended the game with an 8-7 advantage in shots, while the Engineers owned an 8-5 edge in corner kicks. Dylan Rankin needed to make just one save en route to the shutout win for MIT, while Chris Walton returned to the net for Springfield and made a pair of saves in the loss.
