No. 20 Field Hockey Handles WPI, 4-0

WORCESTER, Mass. - Springfield College senior forward Brianne Tompkins (Stormville, N.Y.) scored a pair of first-half goals to lead the Pride to a 4-0 win at WPI in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) field hockey action.

Tompkins opened the scoring with an unassisted goal 3:56 into the game. Senior back Maylese Leyva (Harwich, Mass.) scored on assist from junior Jen Durgin (Gorham, Maine) at the 24:40 mark before Tompkins' second goal, assisted by senior forward Amy Bartholomew (Enfield, Conn.), at the 32:17 mark, put the Pride up 3-0 at halftime.

Junior midfielder Lydia Grant (Granby, Conn.) added the final goal of the game at the 65:12 mark on an assist from junior back Kim Stevens (North Knox, Maine)

Junior Lindsey Pardue (Houston, Texas) made for saves for her third shutout of the season for the Pride (8-4, 3-0 NEWMAC).
