Springfield Wrestling Ranked Second in 2010-2011 Pre-Season Coaches Poll

John Archambeau Bristol, R.I. -- October 25, 2010 -- The Springfield College wrestling team has been ranked second in the New England Wrestling Association Division III Pre-Season Coaches Poll. The Pride is ranked second only behind NEWA defending champion Williams College.

The Ephs finished first in the NEWA pre-season poll with seven first place votes and a total of 106 points. Right behind was Springfield with the three remaining first-place votes and 93 points.

Third through fifth were Johnson & Wales with 77 points, Wesleyan with 63 points, and Rhode Island College with 62 points.

In sixth through 10th were Plymouth State (48), Bridgewater State (40), Southern Maine (34), Roger Williams (25), and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (6). Others receiving votes included Trinity and Western New England.

Springfield will open its 2010-2011 season at the Ithaca Invitational Nov. 6-7.
