Springfield, Mass. - January 21, 2014 - The Springfield College women's gymnastics team had top all-around performances from Lauren Pocius (Wallingford, Conn.) and Abby Clark (Holderness, N.H.) despite being edged by Brockport, 185.375-185.000 on Tuesday in Blake Arena.
In the first home meet of the season for the Pride, Pocius won the all-around competition with a total score of 37.450. The junior was the only first place finisher for the Pride, winning the bars with a score of 9.6.
Clark finished second in the all-around with a score of 37.275. The junior was the top finisher for Springfield on the balance beam, taking second place with a score of 9.5. She was also the Pride's top finisher in the floor exercise, with a third place finish (9.5).
Nicole Caradona (Lynnfield, Mass.) had a strong finish on the bars, placing second with a score of 9.5. Springfield held the edge over Brockport on the bars, 46.475-44.725. The Pride had four of the top five finishers in the event. Rachel Mattison (Andover, Mass.) finished fourth overall with a score of 9.350 while Keelin O'Connell (Pembroke, Mass.) took fifth with a score of 9.150.
On the floor, Jenna Croteau (North Kingstown, R.I.) placed fifth (9.375).
The Pride will compete again on Saturday, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Ithaca.
