Kayla Thibeault and Lauren Peltier Named to D3kicks.com All-New England Region Teams

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., November 28, 2006 – Springfield College sophomore midfielder Lauren Peltier (Agawam, Mass.) and sophomore defender Kayla Thibeault (Lebanon, Conn.) earned All-New England honors for the women’s soccer team. Thibeault was honored as a First Team All-New England selection, while Peltier landed on the second team.

Thibeault, an outside back, helped anchor a Pride defense that gave up just over one goal a match this season. Along with her consistent marking, she played a solid role in the Pride offense as well. Thibeault finished the season with three goals and one assist. Two of the goals were match winners. Kayla started every match in her first season for the Pride. She was also named to the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference First Team. Earlier this season, Thibeault made the D3kicks.com Team of the Week, having scored the match-winning goal in overtime against cross-town rival Western New England College (WNEC).

Peltier, a center midfielder was the focal point of a Pride offense which averaged just fewer than two goals per match. She played and started in 17 matches this season, finishing the year with five goals and one assist; three of the goals were game winners. This is her second time earning All-New England honors. As a freshman last season, Peltier was the NEWMAC Rookie of the Year as well as a member of the All-Conference First Team.

SC’s women’s soccer squad ended its season with a 14-6 overall mark, losing to Smith College in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Tournament Final.
