Wrestling Finishes With 10 Individuals Ranked in Final NEWA Poll

John Archambeau Bristol, R.I. -- February 17, 2011 --The Springfield College wrestling team finished with 10 individuals ranked in the final New England Wrestling Association poll released today. Springfield and Wesleyan were the only two NEWA institutions to have as many as 10 individuals listed.

From the Pride's point of view, senior Eddie Giron (Bethpage, N.Y.) at 133 pounds and senior John Archambeau (Ludlow, Mass.) at 165 pounds are still ranked No. 1 in their respective weight classes.

Senior Blaze Chatham (Walkill, N.Y.) at 141 pounds and senior Steve Flathers (Stratford, Conn.) at 157 pounds were each ranked third.

Senior heavweight Ron Fusco (Billerica, Mass.) was ranked fourth at 285.

Three members of the Pride were ranked sixth in their weight classes. They were junior Ryan McGilvray (Manalapan, N.J.) at 149, sophomore Nicholas Camera (North Massapequa, N.Y.) at 184, and sophomore Jeremy Burns (Hoosick Falls, N.Y.), who was tied for sixth, at 197.

Freshman Dru Thomas (Howell, N.J.) was ranked seventh at 125, and sophomore Michael Fish (Middletown, N.J.) was ranked eighth at 174.

Up next for the SC wrestlers is the NEWA Individual Championships at Trinity College on Feb. 26-27. Springfield was ranked No. 2 as a team in the final NEWA team poll released three days ago.
