Hay Places Third In Triple Jump at NCAA Outdoor Championships

Hay-ECAC3 OSHKOSH, Wisc. - May 24, 2008 - Nikki Hay wrapped up her sophomore campaign in impressive fashion as she finished third this afternoon in the triple jump at the NCAA Championships.

Hay was sensational as she recorded a jump of 11.98 meters, or 39-3 3/4, a Springfield College record. Her best mark came on her second to last jump. For her efforts, Hay was once again named an All-American. Last year (2007), Nikki finished sixth in the same event,, when she also earned All-America status.

A native of Norwalk, Conn., Hay was seeded 10th in her specialty, the triple jump. Heading into the event, her previous best leap this season was 38-4 3/4.

Natalie Calderon from the Univ. of Redlands won the event with a jump of 40-10 1/4.
