Women's Cross Country Finishes Fourth At MIT Harrier Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Sept. 27, 2003 - Springfield College senior All-American Marisa Clapp (Charlton, Mass.) won her fourth-consecutive race, leading the Pride to fourth-place at the MIT Harrier Classic in Cambridge.

Clapp covered the 5,000-meter course in 18:18. The two-time defending NEWMAC Runner of the Year, she outdistanced Sarah Lewicke of Smith, who figures to challenge Clapp at the 2003 conference championship, by almost 25 seconds.

She was also victorious at the Amherst Invitational (Sept. 6), the Middlebury Invitational (Sept. 13) and the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational (Sept. 20).

Sophomore Meg Young (Hurley, N.Y.) was also a top-10 finisher for SC, running to ninth-place in 19:18.
