Women's Soccer Falls in NCAA Tournament Second Round to Williams, 1-0

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – November 10, 2007 - The Springfield College women's soccer team's season came to a close on Saturday afternoon as the Pride fell to Williams College, 1-0, in the second round of the NCAA Divsion III Women's Soccer Championship.

With the loss,the Pride's magical season comes to a close with a 16-3-1 record, while Williams improves to 17-0.

The Ephs netted the lone goal of the game at the 19-minute mark when Sarah Walmsley found the back of the net to give the home squad a 1-0 lead. After a Springfield foul just outside the penalty box on the far left side of the net, Ana Sani kicked a cross to the far right post.

Gabrielle Woodson attempted to head the ball into the net, but Springfield goalkeeper Sue Jenny (Agawam, Mass.) deflected the ball. Walmsley capitalized on the rebound and tapped the ball into the net for an unassisted goal.

Jenney registered six saves in goal for Springfield, while her counterpart, Lauren Sinnenberg, made four stops for Williams.

The Pride, who had previously lost 4-0 this season to the Ephs, were outshot 18-7 in the game, including an 11-2 advantage in the first half.
