Men's Golf Finishes T8th of 12 at Veterans Golf Course

Alex Brown Springfield, Mass. -- April 14, 2011 -- The Springfield College men's golf team finished tied for eighth of 12 teams at the Western New England Invitational at nearby Veterans Memorial Golf Course. Craig DiFranco of East Longmeadow, Mass. finished in a tie for 11th among individuals with a 78.

Western New England fired a 307 to take team honors.

UMass Dartmouth sophomore Matt Connolly (Lynnfield, Mass.) was the medalist with a 73, which included an eagle on the par 5, 474-yard (over water) third hole.

Salem State was a stroke behind to finish second (308) with Nichols (314), UMass Dartmouth (319), and Elms (321) rounding out the top five.

Tufts came in sixth (323) followed by Massachusetts College (327), Babson (331), Springfield (331), Westfield State (335), Endicott (340), and Wesleyan (344).

Head Coach Joe Eadie

Joe Eadie Joe Eadie enters his 20th season as the head men's golf coach at Springfield College in the fall of 2012. Eadie is the head golf professional at the Fenway Golf Range in nearby East Longmeadow, and is in the process of becoming a PGA Professional.
