Meet Head Coach Bryan Brown

Head Coach Bryan Brown Bryan Brown will enter his third season as the head men's cross country coach in the fall of 2013. The reigning New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Coach of the Year, Brown has led the Pride to a two-straight second-place team finishes at the conference championships.

The 2012 cross country campaign proved to be one of the finest in recent memory, as Brown led a senior-laden squad to new heights. In addition to a second-place team finish at NEWMAC's, Anthony Salvucci became the first Springfield College men's cross country runner to win the individual title. The Pride went on to have the best-finish in program history at the NCAA New England regionals, placing sixth, before sending multiple runners to the NCAA Division III Championships for the first time. On the national scene, Brown guided Salvucci to 20th place out of 279 runners, marking the first All-America recognition for Springfield since 1973.

In his first season, Brown led the Pride to a second-place finish at the conference championships and a tremendous ninth-place showing at the NCAA Division III New England Regionals.

Brown was named the head coach in the summer of 2011 as he returned to Springfield College, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in movement sciences in 1996 and a Master’s degree in health studies in 1998. A native of Ashburnham, Mass., Brown was a decorated student-athlete on the track and field team and earned All-America honors in 1996 when he placed fifth in the 1,500 at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Brown, who currently works at the Ludlow Community Center/Randall Boy’s & Girl’s Club as the Youth Athletic Director, has been actively involved in scholastic athletics since leaving Springfield College.

Brown has previously served as the Director of Athletics and Physical Education teacher at both Oakmont Regional High School and South Hadley High School. In addition to his duties as AD and teacher at those high schools, Brown also acted as the head track and field coach.
