Women's Cross Country Has Solid Showing at Open New England's
Boston, Mass. - October 11, 2008
- On Saturday afternoon, the Springfield College women’s cross country team raced at the Open New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston. In a race comprised of student athletes from Division I, II, and III institutions, the Pride finished 24th out of 45 teams.
Leading the way for Springfield in race was Amanda DiPaolo, who crossed the finish line in 19:03, good enough for 68th overall. Behind DiPaolo was Lacey Cartier, who crossed the finish line in 111th place in 19:34.
Caitlyn Crosby was the next member of the squad to finish as she registered a time of 19:48. Kristyn Meade finished in 163rd as she ran the course in a time 20:08. Rounding out the Pride’s runners that scored in the race was Michelle Mirti, who ran a time of 20:23.
Springfield races next weekend at the UAlbany Invitational.
Head Coach Jim Pennington
Jim Pennington enters his 29th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2013. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
