Burke Named NEWMAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

Robbie Burke Boston, Mass. - February 24, 2014 - Springfield College's Robbie Burke (Cheshire, Mass.) has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week following a tremendous week on the court.

Burke had a dominant final week of the regular season as he helped Springfield to three league wins en route to claiming the third seed in the upcoming NEWMAC Championships. In three contests, the senior forward averaged 16.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.7 assists while shooting 50% from the floor.

He opened the week with 19 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists against Emerson before turning in a 21-point, five-rebound effort at Clark. In his final game in Blake Arena, Burke posted 10 points, eight caroms, and four assists in helping Springfield cruise past Coast Guard.

Springfield will travel to WPI on Saturday to take on No. 2 Babson at 3:00 p.m. in the NEWMAC semifinals. The Pride split the two regular season meetings with Babson.
