Field Hockey Earns Second Seed In ECAC Division III New England Tournament
CAPE COD, Mass.
, Nov. 10, 2003 – The Springfield College field hockey team was selected the second seed for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Field Hockey Tournament, announced today.
Springfield hosts seventh-seeded Endicott College (13-8) on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. at Benedum Field in a first round match-up. The first-round winners advance to the semifinals on Saturday, November 15, at the highest remaining seeds.
The Pride, which finished the season with a 14-9 record, fell, 2-1, to Mount Holyoke in the of the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey Tournament championship match on Sunday afternoon at Benedum Field.
Keene State College (16-6) earned the top seed in the tournament while NEWMAC-foe Babson College (17-4) was seeded third and Plymouth State University (12-6) was seeded fourth. The NEWMAC is also represented in the field of eight by fifth-seeded Clark University (11-7) and sixth-seeded Wellesley College (11-7).
Springfield College won the ECAC Tournament in 2001.
