Ryan Malone Boston, Mass. – September 30, 2013 – Ryan Malone (Chicopee, Mass.) was chosen as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

The senior had a tremendous week for the Pride, anchoring the squad to a pair of shutout victories. Malone netted the game-winner on Tuesday, his second of the season, in a 1-0 win over Endicott before posting both a goal and an assist in a 6-0 league win over Emerson on Saturday. All told, the Pride allowed just 10 shots on goal in two games behind Malone's defensive efforts.

Malone has tallied four goals and an assist on the season, leading the Pride to a 6-2 record. The defense, anchored by Malone, has allowed just four goals in eight games this season.

Springfield will host Western New England University on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
