Stalsburg and Chessen Pick Up NEWMAC All-Conference Honors

Stalsburg and Chessen Earn NEWMAC All-Conference Honors Babson Park, Mass. - November 10, 2009 - The Springfield College men's soccer team had a pair of athletes named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference Team on Tuesday. Both Eric Stalsburg and David Chessen were named to the all-conference second team for their efforts this season.

In just his first year for Springfield, Chessen was terrific for the Pride as he anchored Springfield's defense. The Edison, N.J. product started every game for Springfield and was the leader in minutes played during the season. Chessen possess not only a great deal of technical ability, but was also a great individual defender who rarely surrendered the ball.

On the other side of the ball, Stalsburg was Springfield's main offensive weapon. A native of Old Saybrook, Conn., Stalsburg tallied a team-best seven goals this season to go along with an assist. For the year, Stalsburg ranked eighth in the conference in goals per game and 10th in shots per game.
