Macchi Selected as Pilgrim Lacrosse League Player of the Week

Macchi Selected as Pilgrim Lacrosse League Player of the Week Springfield, Mass. - April 19, 2010 - Joe Macchi was named the Pilgrim Lacrosse League Player of the Week after he led Springfield to a 2-0 week. He recorded five goals and two assists, helping keep the Pride undefeated in Pilgrim League play.

Macchi had a terrific game against Wheaton on Saturday in a rematch of the last two Pilgrim Tournament Championships as he netted four goals to go along with a pair of helpers.

Earlier in the week, the Mahopac, N.Y. native scored a goal that jump started a key run in the third quarter as Springfield defeated Amherst, 10-9, in overtime.

Springfield has won now its last 21 games against Pilgrim League opponents.

This season, Macchi leads the Pride with 21 goals and ranks second on the squad with 28 points. In Springfield's seven wins, Macchi has scored three game-winning goals.
