Women's Soccer Falls At Wheaton, 6-1
- Senior Bonnie Roberts (Belchertown, Mass.)
scored Springfield's lone goal in a 6-1 loss at Wheaton College. The Lyons improved to 12-1 on the season and 4-0 in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), while the Pride fell to 5-7 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
Wheaton jumped out a 3-0 halftime lead and never looked back as the Lyons, ranked No. 5 nationally and first in New England, went on to their 20th-straight win versus conference opponents.
The Pride notched its lone goal in the 61st minute, as Roberts received a feed from junior Colleen McGovern (Smithfield, R.I.)
and lofted her shot into the top right corner of the goal.
Senior goalie Christine McCarey (Middleboro, Mass.)
stopped eight shots for Springfield, who was outshot 25-12 on the day.

John Gibson, a native of London, England, enters his 14th season as head women's soccer at Springfield College in the fall of 2013. Gibson has led the Pride to the NCAA Tournament in six of the last eight years and has established the Pride as one of the top programs in the country. His clubs have registered an impressive a 165-75-21 record.
