Hanewich Tabbed as NEWMAC and ECAC Player of the Week

Nicole Hanewich Springfield, Mass. - October 13, 2008 - Nicole Hanewich was honored as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Co-Player of the Week in women's soccer after she led the Pride to a 2-0 week.

The Smithfield, R.I. product had a standout week for Springfield as the Pride, currently ranked tied for 22nd in the country in the latest NSCAA poll, went 2-0.

Hanewich tallied a team-best three goals on the week, with two coming in the Pride's 4-0 win over Clark on Tuesday. On Saturday, Hanewich tallied the Pride's second goal in the opening eight minutes as Springfield snapped Wheaton's league-unbeaten streak of 91 games, which was the longest in the nation.

For the season, Hanewich is second on the team with 11 points off five goals and an assist.
