Women's Cross Country Races In UMass Dartmouth Invitational

North Dartmouth, Mass. - September 17, 2011 - The Springfield College women's cross country team raced in the UMass Darmouth Invitational on Saturday afternoon and finished 15th out of 37 teams competing.

The top three teams placing in the event were all New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foes as MIT, Coast Guard and Wellesley took the top three spots. As a team, the Pride scored 436 points to finish in 15th.

Springfield's top finisher on the day was Michelle Mirti, who ran the 5k course in a time of 19:58.68. She was followed by Nora Letendre, who ran a 20:32.83, and Katie Burns who crossed the finish line in 20:36.78. Rounding out Springfield's other runners who scored on the afternoon included Sarah Knop was finished in 20:39.37, and Erica Fisher who posted a 20:51.16.

The Pride resume action on Saturday afternoon when it runs in the Purple Valley Classic in Williamstown, Mass.
