Baseball Overpowers Coast Guard, 5-1
, April 10, 2003- Springfield College senior first baseman Dave Folli (Endicott, N.Y.)
went 3-for-4 with three RBI to lead the Pride to the 5-1 victory over Coast Guard in New England’s Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action this afternoon on Berry-Allen Field.
SC senior right-hander Aaron Linder (Oneida, N.Y.)
pitched a complete game, hurling eight shutout innings, scattering 11 hits, and striking out six to even his record at 2-2.
After scoring one run in each of the first two innings, the Pride broke the game open in the bottom of the eighth inning as Folli drove in Matt Basteri (Melrose, Mass.)
and Dan Samia (North Adams, Mass.)
with a two-run single. Senior Brian Puchalski (South Deerfield, Mass.)
hit a sacrifice fly to score Toby Cole (Blue Hill, Maine)
to put the Pride up 5-0.
Coast Guard freshman Cory Anderson pitched a complete game for the Bears, giving up two earned runs, while striking out 10.
