Harwood Earns All-New England Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Dec. 5, 2003 -- Springfield College senior midfielder Laura Harwood was named to the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Assocaition (NEWISA) Division III All-New England Third Team.

Junior forward Molly Desroches was an honorable-mention all-region selection.

Harwood, who hails from Longmeadow, Mass., was an New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Second-Team All-Conference choice in 2003. She finished with a team-leading six assists, and was third on the Pride in points (12) and tied for third in goals (three). Harwood scored the game-winning goal in the 94th minute to cap a come-from-behind 3-2 win at Clark (Oct. 25).

Desroches, a native of Belchertown, Mass., was a first-team all-conference pick in '03. Desroches, who earned NEWMAC Player of the Week honors (Nov. 3) after scoring twice in a 4-1 win over Babson (Nov. 1), led the Pride in points (19) and goals (eight). Desroches also had four game-winners and had six goals in conference action.
