No. 14 Men's Lacrosse Wins Eighth-Straight, 23-6, Over MIT
, April 23, 2005 - Springfield College junior attackman Taylor Brown, Portsmouth, R.I.)
was credited with three goals and five assists to lead the No. 14 Pride to a 23-6 win over MIT in Pilgrim League men's lacrosse action this afternoon.
Brown, who became only the ninth player in school history to top the 200-point plateau, moved into eighth place all-time at SC with 203 points (107 goals, 96 assists).
Senior midfielder Kevin Warnock (Somers, Conn.)
opened the game with the first of his four goals on the day, as the Pride (8-4, 6-0 Pilgrim) jumped out to a 6-0 lead with 5:05 on the first-quarter clock on goals by six different players. After two-unanswered MIT goals made it a four-goal game, Brown's second tally of the day with 22 seconds to play in the first, gave the Pride a 7-2 lead after 15 minutes of play.
Senior midfielders Derek Pedrick (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.)
and Adam Cost (Camillus, N.Y.)
scored two goals apiece as SC outscored the Engineers, 6-2, in the second quarter to lead, 13-4, at halftime.
Heavy rain took its toll on both offenses, as Warnock's third and fourth goals of the day accounted for the only third-quarter scoring to stake the Pride to a 15-4 lead entering the final quarter.
A goal by freshman midfielder Chris Sharpe (Derry, N.H.)
, assisted by Brown's 200th point, capped a 3-1 Pride run to put SC up, 18-5, with 9:11 left in regulation.
SC finished the game with five unanswered goals, including two of senior attackman Dan Blinn's (Longmeadow, Mass.)

Springfield travels to Lasell College on Wednesday (April 27) for a 4:00 pm contest with the Lasers.
