Williams Captures NE Div. III Men's Track & Field Championships; MIT 2nd, Springfield 3rd

Springfield, Mass. -- May 2, 2009 -- Williams College took home the men's title for the sixth straight year at the New England Division III Track & Field Championships completed earlier today under sunny skies at Springfield College's Blake Track. The Ephs scored 136.66 points, while MIT finished second with 108, and Springfield third with 56.

The remaining order by team was as follows: WPI in fourth with 52.50 points, then Bates (51), Coast Guard (48.50), Tufts (47.83), Southern Maine (45), Keene State and Westfield State (35), Middlebury (34.50), Wheaton (28.50), Bowdoin (25), Amherst (21), Trinity (19), Colby-Sawyer, Wesleyan, and Emmanuel (11), RIC (10), UMass Dartmouth (9), Eastern Conn. (6), Conn. College (5.50), Brandeis and Fitchburg State (5), and Babson and Bridgewater State (tied for 25th with 1 pt.).

Ken Klatka Ken Klatka, an associate professor of physical education at Springfield College, will enter his 38th season as head coach, and 44th as a coach overall, of the men’s track and field program in 2013-2014. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 447 wins, 156 losses, and two ties for an impressive .743 winning percentage.
