Jez and Beebe Named To 2009 Turfer/NEILA All-New England Team

Beebe and Jez Named 2009 Turfer/NEILA All New England Fairfield, Conn. - May 13, 2009 - Seniors Chris Jez and Jake Beebe were recently honored for their outstanding senior campaigns by being named to the 2009 Turfer/NEILA Division III All-New England Team.

The duo was extremely influential in Springfield winning its its eighth Pilgrim Lacrosse League Championship and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament for the second-straight year.

Both were selected to the All-New England Second Team, with Beebe earning the nod on attack and Jez on midfield.

The Pilgrim Lacrosse Player of the Year, Beebe turned in one of the most impressive offensive careers in program history. He ended his career ranked in the top seven in the three major offensive categories as he tallied 127 goals (7th most), 126 assists (4th most), and 253 points (4th most) throughout his four years. His senior season was also one of the best single seasons in program history. His 46 assists were the second most for a player in a year, while his 87 points was the fourth-highest total for a player in one season. The highlight of the season came in the NCAA Tournament First Round as Beebe broke an 18-year old NCAA Tournament record for points in a game. In the 21-4 win over Mount Ida, Beebe poured in seven goals and five assists for a record-breaking total of 12 points. The previous mark was held by Rich Franz of Ohio Wesleyan, who tallied 11 points in 1991 for Ohio Wesleyan in a win over Washington & Lee.

Rarely coming off the field this season, Jez was the Pride's top defensive midfielder and a dominant force at the face-off "X". The Somers, Conn. product won 56.5% (153-271) of his face-offs, and led the team in ground balls with 100 on the year. A Pilgrim Lacrosse League All-Conference Second-Team selection, Jez led by example, as he recorded 11 points, including two man-up goals, to go along with 10 caused turnovers.
