Archambeau, Giron Ranked No. 1 Among NEWA Individuals

John Archambeau Springfield, Mass. -- February 2, 2011 -- A total of 10 Springfield College individuals have been ranked in the latest New England Wrestling Association poll. Led by top-ranked Eddie Giron at 133 pounds and John Archambeau at 165 pounds, Springfield remains the only NEWA institution to have as many as 10 players ranked.

Archambeau, a senior from Ludlow, Mass., has been listed No. 1 in his weight class all season long. Giron, a senior from Bethpage, N.Y., has joined him at No. 1 for the first time this season.

Two from Springfield College are ranked No. 3 in their weight classes -- senior Blaze Chatham (Walkill, N.Y.) at 141 and senior Steve Flathers (Stratford, Conn.) at 157. Sophomore Jeremy Burns (Hoosick Falls, N.Y.) at 197 and senior Ron Fusco (Billerica, Mass.) at heavyweight find themselves in the No. 4 slots in their weight classes. Fusco was recently named the NEWA Wrestler of the Week.

The remaining four SC wrestlers listed are all ranked No. 6 in the latest poll. They are freshman Dru Thomas (Howell, N.J.) at 125, junior Ryan McGilvray (Manalapan, N.J.) at 149, sophomore Michael Fish (Middletown, N.J.) at 174, and sophomore Nicholas Camera (No. Massapequa, N.Y.) at 184.

Springfield will return to the mats on Thursday, February 3 at 4 pm in SC's Blake Arena when it hosts the City Meet, including AIC and WNEC.
