Men's Golf Finishes 14th of 15 at Stow Acres

J.R. Balogun Stow, Mass, -- April 7, 2010 -- In its first competition of the spring, the Springfield College men's golf team finished 14th of 15 teams earlier today competing in the Lou Flumere Massachusetts Intercollegiate at the par-71 Stow Acres Golf Club.

Salem State finished first as a team with 305 strokes. Placing second was Holy Cross (307), followed by UMass-Lowell (312), Bentley (316), Bentley "B" (316), Assumption (320), Anna Maria (323), Franklin Pierce (324), Holy Cross "B" (325), Nichols (330), Worcester State (331), Westfield State (332), Boston University (334), Springfield (341), and MIT (369).

The medalist, winning in a three-way playoff, was Colin Andrade of Holy Cross. He, Nathan McNamara of Anna Maria, and Nicholas Antonelli of Salem State all finished with a score of 74.

For Springfield, its best was provided by Thomas Sangeloty, who tied for 43rd with a 40-43=83. Tied for 46th was Ryne McEvoy (84). Alexander Brown tied for 54th with an 85. J.R. Balogun tied for 65th with an 89. Rounding out SC's scores was Pat Marra's 96, which was good for 76th.

Joe Eadie Joe Eadie enters his 20th season as the head men's golf coach at Springfield College in the fall of 2012. Eadie is the head golf professional at the Fenway Golf Range in nearby East Longmeadow, and is in the process of becoming a PGA Professional.
