WPI Tops Men's Soccer, 4-1
October 19, 2002- Springfield College junior back Eric Sudnick (Southampton, Mass.)
scored the first goal of the game off an assist from Mike Fregosi (Carmel, N.Y.)
but the Pride couldn’t hold on and WPI defeated Springfield College, 4-1, on Saturday at Brock-Affleck Field in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match.
WPI junior midfielder Joseph Matara (Melrose, Mass.) started the scoring for the Engineers as he scored a goal in the 40th minute of play. It was all WPI in the second half as they scored three more times in the match. With the win, the Engineers improve to 10-1 on the season.
Springfield College falls to 5-9-1 on the season and 1-2-1 in the conference. The Pride will play at Brandeis in a non-conference match-up on Tuesday, October 22 at 4:00 p.m.
