Price, Calabrese, and Moscardelli Earn NSCAA All-Region Honors

Price, Calabrese, and Moscardelli Earn NSCAA All-Region Honors Springfield, Mass. - December 13, 2010 - Three members of the Springfield College women's soccer team were named as 2010 NSCAA/Performance Subaru Women's NCAA Division III All-New England Region selections. Courtney Price was named to the first team, while both Gina Calabrese and Jackie Moscardelli earned third-team honors.

These three players played a major role in the Pride winning its second NEWMAC Championship in the past three years and its third overall. Springfield rattled off a 15-5 record this year and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in six years under head coach John Gibson.

For Calabrese and Moscardelli, this is the first time they have earned NSCAA All-Region honors, while Price earns her second recognition after being tabbed a second-team honoree last year.

Price once again anchored the Springfield defense, who finished the season with 10 shutouts. A physical defender from Enfield, Conn., Price added a goal and two assists this year as she took home NEWMAC All-Conference First Team honors for the second-consecutive season.

Calabrese has been a rock in the defensive third for the Pride during her career at Springfield. The East Longmeadow, Mass. native started all 20 games this season for a defensive unit that allowed just 13 goals all year. She also tacked on a pair of assists as she was a threat all season to come forward and attack out of the back.

A product of Weymouth, Mass., Moscardelli controlled the Springfield midfield all season as she appeared in 16 games, making 15 starts. She ranked fourth on the team in scoring with four goals and one assist for nine points. A NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team selection, she recorded three game-winning goals this season.
