DeVaney and Geanacopoulos Pace the Pride at ECAC Championships
Bristol, R.I. – November 8, 2008 – John DeVaney (Albany, N.Y.)
and Matt Geanacopoulos (Ludlow, Mass.)
were the top finishers for the Springfield College Pride at the 2008 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Cross Country Championships held at Colt State Park.
The Pride finished in 17th place with 549 points in the 48 team field. Williams College earned the overall crown finishing with 64 points followed by Keene State (100) and Middlebury (144). St. Vincent College’s (Pa.) Adam Smith took first place in a time of 26:18.
The Pride’s junior duo of DeVaney and Geanacopoulos both finished in 28:27, followed by sophomore Troy French (Antrim, N.H.) who crossed the line in 29:04, with junior Steve Creamer finishing in 29:36.
Springfield next competes at the NCAA Div. III New England Regionals hosted by Williams College in Williamstown, Mass. on Saturday, November 15th.
Head Coach Bryan Brown
Bryan Brown will enter his third season as the head men's cross country coach in the fall of 2013. Brown, who was a former All-American at Springfield College in track, is the reigning NEWMAC Coach of the Year after leading Springfield to its second-straight second-place finish at the conference championships a year ago .
