Women's Cross Country Finishes Third at Keene State Invitational

KEENE, N.H., September 30, 2006 - Springfield College junior Alyssa Brigham (Penacook, N.H.) led all Pride runners with a third-place finish overall, completing the 5k course in a time of 19:14, as SC finished third as a team at this afternoon's 12th Annual Keene State College Cross Country Invitational.

The Pride combined for a total of 65 team points to finish third overall. Host Keene State College won the team title with a total of 25 points. Wheaton College finished second with 40 total team points, and Fitchburg State College came in fourth with 119.

Junior Jess Borsotti (Westfield, Mass.) was the second SC runner in on the day, finishing 10th overall out of 42 runners with a time of 20:21. Sophomore Lara Dalidowitz (Southington, Conn.) placed 15th individually with a 20:47 time, and freshman Allison Vander Werff (Golden's Bridge, N.Y.) came in 25th place at 22:30. Right behind Vander Werff was senior Maureen Ashe (Springfield, Mass.), who rounded out the top five for the Pride with a 26th-place finish (22:33).

SC will next travel with the men's cross country team to the Open New England Championships in Boston's Franklin Park on Saturday, October 7th, in a meet that will feature all divisions from the New England region.
