Hay and Rose Headed Back to NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships

- For the second-consecutive year, Nikki Hay
and Fatima Rose
will represent Springfield College at the upcoming NCAA Division III Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships at DePauw University, Greencastle, Ind. on March 12-13, 2010. Nikki Hay
will be competing in three different events, while Fatima Rose
will be representing Springfield in the weight throw.
Hay will be making her third straight appearance at the Division III Indoor Championships. As a sophomore in the triple jump, Hay recorded a jump of 11.04m or 36-2 3/4, but did not qualify for the finals in the event as she officially finished 12th Last year, as a junior, Hay was named an All-American after she finished fifth in the triple jump after registering a leap of 38-11, or 11.86 meters.
This year, Hay will run the 55 meters as she qualified with a time of 7.25. She will be seeded sixth in the triple jump after previously recording a mark of 11.73m (38-6) and will be ranked 10th in the long jump after qualifying with a distance of 5.58m (18-3 3/4).
Rose will be making her second appearance at the National Championships. As a freshman Rose failed to record a distance for the weighted throw, but this year looks to be different as currently she hold the spot for the ninth longest distance in the country.

Jim Pennington enters his 30th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2013-2014. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
