Golf Plays In ECAC Division III New England Championship

Bernardston, Mass. - October 13, 2013 - The Springfield College men's golf team played in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Championship this weekend at the Crumpin Fox Golf Club.

The Pride finished 13th overall in the team standings with a two-day score of 736. Kyle DiFranco (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was the top finisher for Springfield with a two-day score of 164. He shot an 86 on Saturday and a 78 on Sunday.

Mike Nowakowski (East Hampton, Conn.) shot a pair of 89's while Michael McAllister (Ranco Cucamonga, Calif.) also played for the Pride, tallying scores of 98 and 96.

Frankie Anetzberger (Selkirk, N.Y.) was Springfield's fourth golfer to play both rounds on the weekend, posting scores of 114 and 106.

Middlebury College took home the 2013 title, posting a two-day team score of 635. Nichols College sophomore Colin Whitney was the top individual, registering a two-round score of 153 (78-75) to finish +9.

Springfield will wrap up the fall portion of its schedule at the New England Championships on October 26-28 at the Captains Golf Course.

Joe Eadie Joe Eadie enters his 20th season as the head men's golf coach at Springfield College in the fall of 2012. Eadie is the head golf professional at the Fenway Golf Range in nearby East Longmeadow, and is in the process of becoming a PGA Professional.
