Bugbee Earns Unsung Hero Award at IMLCA Convention

Head Coach Keith Bugbee December 9, 2011 - Springfield College head men's lacrosse coach Keith Bugbee was honored with the Unsung Hero award at the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) Convention in Baltimore last week.

At the Nike Awards Luncheon, Bugbee was recognized as one of the unsung heroes in the sport of lacrosse. In his 28 years as the Pride's head coach, Bugbee's coaching record stands at an impressive 303-145 (.676 winning percentage). His teams have competed in 24 post-season tournaments, including 15 NCAA Tournaments, and 41 of his players have received All-America recognition.

Bugbee has recently reached several career milestones as he continued to cement himself in the lacrosse coaching record books. In the Pride's 21-4 win over Mass. Maritime on April 23, Bugbee became just the seventh coach in NCAA men’s lacrosse history to reach 300 career victories. One week later in a 15-5 win over MIT, Bugbee, became the all-time winningest coach in New England lacrosse history with his 301st career victory. Bugbee passed former UMass coaching legend Dick Garber, who had 300 career wins.

Bugbee and the Pride will kick off the 2012 season on February 22 when they host Gordon at 4:00 pm on Stagg Field.
