No. 9 Field Hockey Rolls Past No. 15 Williams College, 4-2

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., October 12, 2005 – Springfield College senior midfielder Jaclyn Galligan (Hopedale, Mass.) scored her second goal of the season and the first of Wednesday night's (Oct. 12) contest as the No. 9 Pride rolled past No. 15 Williams College, 4-2, in non-conference action at Benedum Field.

Sophomore goalie Julia Kincade (Durham, N.H.) notched 21 saves in her first complete game of the season, recording her first win of the '05 season for SC.

Williams College junior forward Cathleen Clark scored in the 16th minute of play (15:20) to tie the game at one apiece off a feed from freshman forward Meighan McGowan. The score remained at 1-1 heading into the break, and then early in the second half, the Ephs took a brief 2-1 lead off a score from sophomore Elspeth MacMillian.

SC responded quickly, however, as sophomore forward Brittany Veazie (Dexter, Maine) scored the game-tying goal off a pass from sophomore Eileen Jenkins (Gorham, Maine) at the 41:01 mark. Jenkins tallied two assists, her first two of the season, in the win for SC.

Senior midfielder Alisha Miner (Sanbornton, N.H.) then tallied the eventual game-winner for the Pride with 8:43 left in the contest on an unassisted goal. SC struck again three minutes later as senior forward Sarah Brooker (Auburn, Maine) tallied her 13th goal of the season, making the score 4-2

The Pride improves its overall record to 12-2 and returns to action on Saturday, October 15, as it hosts Clark in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game at 1:00 p.m.
