NEW LONDON, Conn., December 4, 2005 - Springfield College senior All-American Dan Moran (Wilbraham, Mass.) took first in both the 100 and 200 butterfly events (52.91, 1:54.29), while also finishing second in the 500 free (4:46.42) and third in the 50 butterfly (24.81) as the Pride finished second out of five competing teams at this past weekend's two-day Connecticut College Invitational.

SC's 800 freestyle relay team consisting of junior Chris LeCompte (Londonderry, N.H.), Moran, sophomore Roy Burch (Warwick, Bermuda) and junior Paul McCloskey (Brookfield, Conn.) took home first place with a final time of 7:12.66. Sophomore All-American Roy Burch had some solid performances on the weekend for the Pride, finishing second in the 50 free (21.68) and third in the 100 backstroke (54.08) and 100 free (47.56).

Other top performances for SC included senior All-American Mike Shaw (Westfield, Mass.) finishing first in both the one- and three-meter dives (288.00, 318.75), and Paul McCloskey finishing second in the 200 free (1:47.67) and third in the 500 free (4:55.74).

On the women's side, senior tri-captain Emily Phillips (North Windham, Conn.) finished first in both the 100 and 200 freestyle events (54.79, 1:59.27) as the Pride captured first place out of six competing teams at the Conn. College Invitational in New London, Conn.

SC's 800 freestyle relay team consisting of freshman Kristen Schadow (Ballston Spa, N.Y.), senior Sarah Strout (Boothbay, Maine), junior Meaghan O'Hara (Bedford, N.H.) and Phillips won the event in a time of 8:07.27. All-American Sarah Strout captured first place in the 500 freestyle, finishing in a time of 5:19.04 to beat out 41 other swimmers in the event.

Freshman Moira Price (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) had many top performances on the weekend for the Pride, placing second in the 100 backstroke event (1:03.89) and third in both the 100 breaststroke and 50 breaststroke (1:11.34, 32.61) events to help lead SC to the team title. Kristen Schadow took first in the 200 butterfly (2:13.22), second in the 200 individual medley (2:18.44) and third in the 100 butterfly (1:02.08).

Freshman Erin White (Glastonbury, Conn.) took first in both the one- and three-meter diving events (234.80, 245.60). Freshman Kallie Pottle (Brewer, Maine) chipped in with two third-place performances, in the 200 back (2:15.98) and 50 butterfly (28.46), whereas sophomore Emily Sheahan (Erin, N.Y.) finished third in the 400 individual medley (4:57.67).

SC's men's and women's swimming and diving teams will next travel to Middlebury College for a meet on Saturday, December 10, in a 1:00 p.m. start.
