Men's Golf Finishes Eighth At ECAC New England Qualifier

HAMPDEN, Mass., Sept. 21, 2004 - Springfield College freshman Matt McCarthy (Springfield, Mass.) finished tied for 13th place with a score of 79 to lead the Pride to ninth place out of 16 teams at the ECAC Division III New England Qualifier this afternoon at Hampden Country Club.

UMass-Dartmouth was the top team with a score of 310, followed by Babson (314), Trinity (318), Tufts (320), Salem State (321), Western New England (322), MIT (324), Elms (325), Springfield (327) and Brandeis (328) rounding out the top-10.

The top seven teams advance to the ECAC Divison III Championships next month to be held at Ravenwood Golf Club in Rochester, N.Y. The date is to be announced.

The low-scoring individual not on one of the top seven teams also advances to the championship.
