No. 8 Field Hockey Upends Mount Holyoke, 1-0, In NEWMAC Showdown


SOUTH HADLEY, Mass., Oct. 5, 2004 - Springfield Colleg junior Alisha Miner (Sanbornton, N.H.) scored the game's lone goal to lead the No. 8 Pride to a 1-0 win over Mount Holyoke this afternoon in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) field hockey action.

Miner scored her second goal in as many games off a free hit from junior Amber Paradee (Sheldon, Vt) with 9:31 remaining in the second half to lead SC (10-2, 3-0 NEWMAC) to its first win over the defending NEWMAC Champions since 2001.

SC senior captain Lindsey Pardue (Houston Texas) made 10 saves to post her fourth shutout in 2004.

The Pride next hosts NEWMAC-rival Babson College on Saturday (Oct. 9) in a 1:00 p.m. match on Benedum Field.
