The youthful Pride squad improved on last season's finish, in which as a team, the Pride finished 17th overall in 2007.
Springfield finished with this year's race with 379 points. The Pride was led by sophomore Lacey Cartier (York, Maine) who placed 32nd in a time of 23:52. Junior Amanda DiPaolo (Garrison, N.Y.) was just seconds behind, finishing in 23:58, good enough for 34th. By placing the top 35 of the race, both Cartier and DiPaolo were selected to the New England All-Region team.
Middlebury won the championship with 57 points, while Williams took second with 82 points, and rounding out the top three was MIT with 161 points. Amherst’s Elise Tropiano won the individual competition in a time of 21:49, beating her next closest opponent by 38 seconds.
. Freshman Michelle Mirti (Pompton Plains, N.J.) crossed the line in 24:59 for 82nd. Also finishing in the top 100 for Springfield was grad student Kristyn Meade (Raynham, Mass.) at 94th place in a time of 25:18.
