Wrestling Ranked 24th In Brute-Adidas National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III Poll

Joe Grippi Oswego, N.Y. - December 10, 2009 - Much in part to its second-place finish at the Petrofes Invitational last weekend, the Springfield College wrestling team is now ranked 24th in the country in the latest Brute-Adidas National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III Poll.

Of the top 30 teams ranked in the country, five are from the New England Wrestling Assocation (NEWA). Williams is the highest ranked team, currently ranked 15th, followed by the United States Merchant Marince Academy (21st), Wesleyan (22nd), Johnson & Wales (23rd), and Springfield in 24th.

Springfield most recently downed conference-foe WPI, 29-15, in its first dual meet of the season on Wednesday evening.

Freshman Joe Grippi also earned some national recognition as he is currently ranked 10th in the nation at 133. The freshman from Bedford Hills, N.Y. has had a nice start to his collegiate career as he won the Petrofes Invitational at his 133 pound classification last weekend.

Grippi and the Pride will return to action on December 28th when they will compete in the Wilkes Open.
