Women's Gymnastics Team Honored For Academic Success By NACGC/W August 11, 2009 - The Springfield College women's gymnastics team was recently honored for the its success in the classroom by the The National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W). The Pride recorded the 15th highest team grade point average in the country last year as it finished with a GPA of 3.434.

A total of 67 student-athletes earned 4.0 GPAs for the 2009 academic year and 428 earned Scholastic All America status as a result of GPAs of 3.5 or better for the year.

Springfield College had 10 members of its team among the 428 who earned Scholastic All-America status. Jenna Williams led the way for the Pride with a GPA of 3.85 and was followed by Megan German (3.82), Penelope Bohunko (3.81), Audrey Lastra (3.79), Ashley Morek (3.76), Jeanna Bradle (3.69), Chora Chando (3.67), Marissa Rusin (3.67), Kayleigh Davis (3.60), and Jacqueline Mazzola (3.55).

The NACGC/W is the national association for women’s collegiate gymnastics coaches. The association seeks to actively manage and develop the sport of women’s gymnastics at the collegiate level and works with the NCAA and USA Gymnastics in order to provide the best possible experience for student-athletes.

Southeast Missouri State University earned the National Academic Team Championship again with a 3.9124 composite team GPA, bolstered by 14 individual athletes with perfect 4.0s for the year. Perennial team contender Southern Utah University finished in second with a 3.68 and Michigan State University finished third with a 3.65.
